Orientation 2026 is quickly approaching, and one of the most impactful aspects of this experience is the sense of unity our entire DeSales community shows to incoming first-year students. Each year, the positive feedback from students and their families about the welcoming environment is tremendous!
Over the past year, the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership has developed a comprehensive plan to connect our newest Bulldogs to DeSales. This includes the Character U and Orientation webpage www.desales.edu/orientation, video tours, webinars, social media engagement, in-person information sessions, and ongoing data collection to better support and connect with the incoming class.
We invite you to be part of this year’s Character U and Orientation Program by participating in one or more of the following opportunities:
Summer Program Involvement
Participate in the Summer Preview program by contributing to the Orientation webpage, hosting a table at summer information sessions, or creating a welcome video for new students.

Opening Day: Faculty and Staff Helping Hands
Assist with the check-in and move-in process on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There are a variety of roles available, including opportunities for those with limited mobility, such as staffing the DUC or directing families. All volunteers will receive an official Orientation shirt, breakfast, and lunch.

Please note: Mass will be celebrated with students and their families at 3:30 p.m. in Billera Hall. All faculty and staff are warmly invited to attend.
Orientation Judges for Student Challenges
Judges are needed for student challenge events, including singing, talent, and dance performances, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the DUC. Judges are asked to arrive 15 minutes early and may be needed briefly afterward.

Driving the Dawgs
Faculty and staff are invited to drive golf carts on the first day of classes, Wednesday, August 26, 2026. This is a great opportunity to connect with students as they navigate campus.

Orientation Campus Tours
Please note that on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., first-year students will be participating in campus tours. Offices and departments are asked to be aware of increased student presence during this time.
