Dear Colleagues,
After forty-nine years of devoted service, Dr. Rodger Berg has announced his retirement from DeSales University, effective Fall 2026.
Dr. Berg joined DeSales in 1977 as a member of the Chemistry faculty and quickly became a passionate advocate for both students and the advancement of chemistry education. Over the course of his remarkable career, he has taught thousands of students and served the University in numerous leadership roles, including Chairperson and Division Head.
Throughout his tenure, Dr. Berg has exemplified and advanced the Salesian values and mission of DeSales. Among his many lasting contributions is the Chemistry Demonstrations program, which he founded and mentored. This student-led initiative has brought the excitement and wonder of science to countless K–12 students for decades, leaving a meaningful impact on the broader community.
The University will celebrate Dr. Berg’s extraordinary career and contributions this fall. Details about the celebration will be shared in the coming months.
