A big round of applause and thanks for your commitment to the recent fire drills. While we all hope to never have to use these skills, you proved you're ready for action!
The Stats Are In:
- Goal: Efficient Evacuation.
- Result: Every building cleared in under 4 minutes!
- Gold Medal: Campbell Hall—you set the campus record with a super fast 1 minute and 16 seconds.
DANGER ZONE: The Familiar Door Trap
We noticed one common issue: The Automatic Exit. When the alarm sounds, your brain naturally tries to send you to the door you originally entered. FIGHT THAT INSTINCT. Your shortest path to safety is often not the front door.
- Think Trexler Library: Don't join the line for the main entrance. There are multiple emergency exits located on the side of the building. Look for the closest one.
- Think Extra Doors: Larger rooms like Dooling/Gambet auditoriums and the Dorothy Day Fitness Center have extra emergency doors that lead directly to an outside exit. Make sure to know where they are.
