The Humanities Department is excited to launch Level 2 of the Spanish Health CommuniCare micro-credential—a credit-bearing, stackable program that builds basic-to-intermediate Spanish skills for healthcare settings.
Why it matters: Spanish-speaking patients are one of the fastest-growing populations in healthcare. Even foundational Spanish skills can improve patient trust, reduce miscommunication, and give you a competitive edge in careers like nursing, physician assistant studies, speech-language pathology, physical therapy, and related fields.
How it works:
- Level 1: SP130 Basic Medical Spanish I + SP131 Basic Medical Spanish II
- Level 2: SP131 Basic Medical Spanish II + SP230 Intermediate Medical Spanish I
Already taken a course? Complete the next one to earn your digital badge and showcase your Spanish proficiency! Any course in the pathway may also satisfy the Cultural Awareness core requirement. The micro-credentials are stackable, so students can progress from Level 1 to Level 2 to demonstrate continued learning and skill development.
Rooted in DeSales University’s values of Hospitality, Gentleness, Humility, Gratitude, and Wisdom, this micro-credential prepares you to serve with empathy and confidence—both in class and in your future career.
