Dear University Community:
I invite you to consider enrolling in the University’s Food Conservation Program, an effort not to waste food and to share delicious, healthy leftovers with students and families who could benefit from free food.
Here is how the program works: Various departments on campus host meetings during which meals, snacks, or other food is provided to attendees; leftovers are common. Once you enroll anonymously, you will receive a text alerting you to available food and the place and time to collect it. You arrive at the site with your container/Tupperware/etc. to pack the food you would like to take home.
Pope Francis taught us that to waste food is to steal from the table of the poor. As a Catholic, Salesian community, let’s commit to never wasting a gift that far too many of our neighbors—near and far—yearn to enjoy by virtue of their human dignity.
If you are interested in enrolling for yourself or your family, please complete this form, and we will be in touch. I have included the faculty and staff on this message, as they may know students or others who could benefit from this program: All are welcome to participate.
Peace,
Rev. Kevin Nadolski, OSFS, PhD
