Fatigue can affect anyone on campus—students, faculty, and staff. Lack of sleep reduces concentration, slows reaction time, and increases the risk of accidents, injuries, and errors in classrooms, labs, offices, and while driving.
Prioritizing healthy sleep is one of the most effective ways to stay safe and productive.
- Aim for 7–9 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night and try to go to bed and wake up at the same time daily.
- Create a sleep-friendly environment that is cool, dark, quiet, and comfortable.
- Avoid caffeine and large meals close to bedtime, and limit screen time before going to sleep.
- Regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and staying hydrated also support better rest.
Take short breaks during long study sessions or work shifts to stay alert. If you work evenings or nights, ensure you are well-rested before your shift and use brief, strategic naps if needed. Staying well-rested helps protect your health, enhances performance, and supports a safer campus community for everyone.
