All workplace injuries should be reported, no matter how small!
What should you do if an injury occurs?
- Get First Aid and/or Medical Attention.
- First Aid Kits are located around campus.
- There is a panel of doctors to visit using DSU worker’s compensation insurance.
- Fill out an Injury Report.
- Available on myDSU on the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) page: https://desalesuniversity.sharepoint.com/sites/OccupationalSafetyandHealth/
- If there isn’t time to complete the report immediately, call/email Maura Conroy (HR) to let her know the employee will be seeking medical attention.
- The employee’s supervisor is responsible for completing an Injury Report within 24 hours.
- Provide medical paperwork and follow instructions.
- Bring any paperwork from the doctor to HR before resuming work.
- You may have work restrictions or follow-up appointments. HR and your supervisor will discuss with you.
- Follow the doctor’s instructions! It’s important that you listen to medical advice to recover.
After every incident, the OSH Department will complete an incident investigation, which can include interviews with the injured party/witnesses, reviewing videos/photos, and implementing corrective actions.
