Relay for Life is a community-based event that raises funds for the American Cancer Society to support cancer research and those currently battling the disease. The evening includes performances, a cornhole tournament, Shave-to-Save, a Survivor Dinner, a luminaria ceremony, club tables, and plenty of activities like karaoke, bingo, trivia, raffle baskets, and more.
Relay centers around teams. Leading up to the event, teams fundraise and then participate in the “relay” tradition by ensuring that at least one team member is always walking the track. This represents that cancer never stops, and neither do we.
Last year, the DeSales community raised over $31,000. This year, our goal is $35,000, and we hope to see even more of the campus community involved.
As an incentive, any team that raises $500 will earn a personalized banner displayed around the track during the event to recognize your team's contribution. Each year, teams have the opportunity to earn a new banner by reaching that year’s goal.
To register:
• Visit the DeSales Relay page using this link or QR code on our campus flyers.
• Click “Join a Relay” and search for DeSales.
• Create an account or log in.
• Team captains can create a team (for example, “DSU Chess Club”).
• Members can search for and join your team, and your total will appear on the event scoreboard.
The registration fee is $25 and includes a Relay t-shirt and luminaria bag. To guarantee a t-shirt, participants must register by March 13, 2026.
If your organization has a scheduling conflict and cannot attend the event, we still welcome and recognize your fundraising efforts. Additionally, each year we invite organizations to host a table at Relay with an activity to raise additional funds. If you are interested, please complete the interest form.
