Halloween is a great time to dress up and enjoy festivities—but safety should always come first. Here are a few quick tips to help ensure a safe and fun holiday:
- Choose safe costumes: Make sure costumes fit well and don’t pose a tripping hazard.
- Skip the masks: Avoid masks that obstruct vision. Opt for non-toxic face paint or festive hats instead.
- Stay visible: Use reflective tape, flashlights, or glowsticks when walking outside in the dark.
- Inspect treats: Check all candy and beverages before consuming them.
- Stick together: Travel in groups and stay with friends.
- Avoid risky areas: Steer clear of dark or poorly lit places.
- Use sidewalks: Walk on sidewalks whenever possible.
- Be street smart: Look both ways before crossing the street.
- Drive cautiously: Avoid driving in areas with heavy trick-or-treating. If you must drive, go slow and stay alert.
Don’t forget campus safety policies when decorating:
- Keep exits clear.
- Do not hang decorations from sprinklers, exit signs, or fire safety equipment.
- Burning candles or incense is strictly prohibited.
Have fun, stay safe, and enjoy a Happy Halloween!
