Did you know that sitting for long hours can be just as harmful as other workplace hazards?
Prolonged sitting has been linked to obesity, joint pain, heart disease, diabetes, poor posture, and even mental health concerns. Over time, too much sitting can slow your metabolism, strain your back and neck, and reduce circulation.
The good news? Small changes can make a big difference! Try these easy ways to stay active:
• Move your office essentials – Place your printer, trash can, or files away from your desk so you have to stand and walk.
• Take micro-breaks – Stand up, stretch, or take a quick lap around the office at least once every hour. Set a reminder if needed.
• Rethink your commute – Park farther away, take the stairs, or get off public transit one stop early.
• Try walking meetings – When appropriate, turn one-on-one meetings into short walks.
• Check your posture – Keep feet flat on the floor, shoulders relaxed, and your screen at eye level.
Our bodies are designed to move—so build activity into your day. A little movement goes a long way toward keeping you healthy, focused, and energized.
