Weekly Safety Tip: Workplace Injury Reporting

Report all workplace injuries—no matter how small.

What to do if an injury occurs:

1. Get first aid or medical attention. First Aid Kits are located across campus. Use DSU’s workers’ compensation panel of doctors for treatment.
2. Complete an Injury Report, available on myDSU under Occupational Safety and Health (OSH):OSH Page.
   If you cannot complete the report immediately, call or email Maura Conroy (HR) to notify her that medical attention is needed.
3. The employee’s supervisor must submit the Injury Report within 24 hours.

Provide medical documentation and follow instructions:

• Bring all paperwork from the doctor to HR before returning to work.
• You may have work restrictions or follow-up appointments; HR and your supervisor will review these with you.
• Follow your doctor’s instructions to ensure proper recovery.

After every incident, the OSH Department will conduct an investigation, which may include interviews, reviewing photos or videos, and implementing corrective actions.
