- Make sure costumes fit properly and won’t cause you to trip and fall.
- Don’t wear a mask that can obstruct your vision, use non-toxic face paint or decorative hats instead.
- Use reflective tape, flashlights or glowsticks to increase visibility when outside in the dark.
- Check candy and other treats before you eat or drink them.
- Stay in groups.
- Avoid dark or poorly lit areas.
- Walk on sidewalks when possible.
- Look both ways when crossing the street.
- Avoid driving in areas where people are trick or treating. If you must, go slow and be careful.
Don’t forget campus safety policies – when decorating: keep exits clear and don’t hang items from sprinklers, exit signs, or fire emergency equipment; and no candles or incense.
Have fun, be safe, and have a Happy Halloween!
