College campuses are a whirlwind of activity, but don’t let that energy spill over into your driving. Distracted driving is a serious threat, and with pedestrians and cyclists, campuses pose unique challenges. Here’s how to stay focused behind the wheel:
Pre-Trip Prep: Before hitting the road, silence your phone or consider using the “Do Not Disturb While Driving” feature. Texts, calls (even hands-free), and social media scrolling can wait.
Focus on the Road: Eating, adjusting music, or chatting with passengers can take your attention away from the road. Keep conversation light and music at a reasonable volume.
Be Patient: Campus parking can be hectic. Don’t speed or weave through traffic to find a spot. Remember, arriving late is better than risking a collision.
Follow Traffic Signs: Obey posted road signs, traffic markings, and parking regulations to help keep everyone safe and traffic flowing smoothly
Watch Out for Pedestrians: Be on the lookout for pedestrians enjoying the weather and people playing disc golf. Slow down and maintain a safe distance.
Remember, a notification or missed call isn’t worth a life. Stay focused, stay safe, and be a responsible driver on and off campus!
