Here’s how to stay safe:
- Watch for Wet Leaves: Wet leaves can be as slippery as ice. Stick to cleared pathways and report areas with heavy leaf accumulation to Campus Environment.
- Mind the Weather: Rain, frost, and early snow can make walkways slick. Wear shoes with good traction and walk carefully on wet or icy surfaces.
- Stay Alert: Keep an eye out for hidden hazards like uneven pavement, cracks, muddy areas, or tree roots that may be obscured by leaves.
- Use Handrails: When using stairs, always use handrails, especially during wet or frosty conditions.
- Light Your Path: With shorter daylight hours, ensure you’re walking in well-lit areas. If you see any exterior lights not working, report it to Campus Environment.
- Avoid Distractions: Resist the urge to check your phone while walking. Staying focused can prevent a misstep or trip.
By taking these precautions, you can safely navigate campus and enjoy all that autumn has to offer without incident.
