Mission
The mission of the DeSales University Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is to promote
the equality of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields. AWIS
tries to promote the idea of women being compensated fairly, being advanced without gender
bias in the workplace and of women being exposed to successful role models in the STEM fields.
Our goal is to reach out to young women in elementary and middle school students and support
young girls’ hopes to excel in the science and mathematics fields.

Membership Benefits
Being a member of AWIS will open countless doors for students in STEM majors searching for mentors and peers for guidance. Membership in AWIS means that you have access to countless women in STEM fields that have succeeded and faced the same trials and struggles that most women face in professional settings. Not only do these mentors provide guidance, but they are a sure way to network and inquire about possible job shadowing and internships. Additionally, AWIS provides countless community service opportunities and science-related activities and programs that function to bond members while also having fun!
