National Mission:

The community we inspire brings their whole selves, and are respected for their unique expertise – which includes lived experience. All are welcome and the way we communicate affirms that.
2. EMPOWER THE COMMUNITY.
We actively listen to each other and amplify our community. We value partnership and recognize that our ideas are better when perspectives from up, down, and across the team and community are sought, heard, and considered. We raise each other up to ensure all voices are heard.

We shape the next-gen social norms and solutions for mental health to continuously and boldly evolve. We are driven by our “why” and are committed to excellence as we respond and adapt with agility. We are forward-thinking, and always learning.

An emotionally healthy world is not possible without a just world. We believe that equity and social justice are paramount to our work and we use that lens as we look to make change in our world.

Mission At DeSales:
1. SHOW COMPASSION AND EMPATHY
Compassion and empathy are what drive this club into its core goal of creating a safe place for mental health. We will create a genuine, emotionally-intelligent community that knows it is okay to talk about mental health.
2. EXTEND UNDERSTANDING
In the case that someone feels comfortable sharing impactful or traumatic parts of their lives, the members will feel empowered to understand their feelings, and know it is okay to refer them to a trusted adult, if they see fit.
3. PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED
We will create opportunities for students and staff to be involved in making a difference in mental health culture at DeSales university.
4. EDUCATE, LEARN, REPEAT.
Not only will members be learning about various mental health topics, but the leaders/executive
board will be too. We will constantly be educating ourselves and using Active Minds National resources to apply new knowledge to our chapter.
5. INSPIRE ALL PARTS OF CAMPUS TO TAKE LEADERSHIP
All students, professors, coaches, directors and staff will be encouraged to embody these values in their own way and bring their ideas to life through or with the help of Active Minds.

Mission
The mission of the DeSales University Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is to promote
the equality of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields. AWIS
tries to promote the idea of women being compensated fairly, being advanced without gender
bias in the workplace and of women being exposed to successful role models in the STEM fields.
Our goal is to reach out to young women in elementary and middle school students and support
young girls’ hopes to excel in the science and mathematics fields.

Being a member of AWIS will open countless doors for students in STEM majors searching for mentors and peers for guidance. Membership in AWIS means that you have access to countless women in STEM fields that have succeeded and faced the same trials and struggles that most women face in professional settings. Not only do these mentors provide guidance, but they are a sure way to network and inquire about possible job shadowing and internships. Additionally, AWIS provides countless community service opportunities and science-related activities and programs that function to bond members while also having fun!

The mission of Best Buddies is to establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We do this at the college level by matching college student volunteers in mutually enriching friendships with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The mission of the DeSales University Chapter is to fulfill the Best Buddies International Mission.

Ujima is here to advocate and construct a unified community for African diaspora
here at DeSales University. Our organization strives to create a safe, judgment-free
environment and to converse hard topics happening on/off campus. Our focus is to motivate
young black individuals that attend DeSales University to become successful in their

The Bulldog Band formed as a result of musically inclined students aspiring to
continue their musical expression in a matter that is not possible alone or with any other
organization at Desales, as no other organization at Desales enables students to play instruments
in an ensemble setting. Seeking to provide a space for students to continue to develop their
instrumental talents in an informal student run environment with other students, the Bulldog
Band aspires to allow students a space for self-expression through music. which is essential for
the spiritual development for one’s person. And since Desales encourages students to “be who
[they] are and to be that well,” the self-expression and spiritual development the Bulldog Band
provides promotes the Salesian notion of self-discovery and self-expression.

Creative Exploration Organization is a service organization whose purpose is to spread dance awareness on the DeSales campus and throughout the community. CEO holds fundraisers throughout the year to spread dance awareness to its members by attending dance concerts and providing scholarships for summer intensives and further forms of study.

1. To edit, produce, and distribute DeSales University’s only literary publication, Calliope
2. To offer members writing prompts and constructive critique of such writing pieces in order to better the artist
3. To promote outside publication of members’ works
4. To encourage all members and majors of DeSales University to express themselves creatively
5. To uphold Salesian traditions while pursuing creative work, and to host events to better the student body and charities.
6. An academic club whose purpose is to promote creative expression in both writing and artistic forms across campus through events and the publication of the school's literary magazine, Calliope. 


Join us every other Wednesday at 4:30 P.M. in Dooling 104 to workshop your creative writing.

The Criminal Justice Association (CJA) is a student organization open to all majors, which focuses on networking, hosting, and attending events related to the criminal justice field. Examples include criminal justice speakers, visits to the Allentown Police Academy, on-campus shooting simulator events, mock crime scenes, exercise training, community service, fundraising, and an annual overnight(s) spring trip to a city with criminal justice related attractions and educational opportunities.

The EARTH Club exists to spread awareness and accomplish environmentally friendly initiatives on the DeSales University Campus. The club gives students the opportunity to work together on a wide variety of projects to make campus a greener place. The EARTH club members will participate in educating students and visitors about the dangers and health consequences of microplastics on the Earth and our bodies. We hope to employ the catholic belief of protecting God’s gifts and creating a clean habitat on campus. We will represent DeSales University honorably by; educating, protecting, and creating a welcoming environment for all.
