EXERCISE YOUR MIND

Exploring the themes of conformity, mob mentality, and morality, Eugène Ionesco’s absurdist play is set in a small provincial French village. Two friends, Jean and Berenger, meet in a coffee shop, when suddenly a rhinoceros enters the town square. Soon a second rhinoceros is seen, and the two friends argue if it was the same animal twice. Gradually more and more citizens of the town transform into rhinoceroses until Berenger seems to be the last human remaining. “Its satirical humor, combined with its provocative theme and surprisingly moving ending, results in an evening that is strange, disturbing and arresting,” The New York Post.
